Helping industry recover from COVID-19
On behalf of the tourism industry, we have submitted a paper to the
Cabinet Office detailing how Government can help the tourism industry
recover from COVID-19.
The paper is a result of our rapid and extensive consultation across the
sector with major industry players who were instrumental in the design
of the Tourism Sector Deal, including representatives of Destination
Management Organisations (DMOs), businesses, trade bodies and more.
The paper proposes actions for Government across four workstreams -
timelines, people, regulation and long-term future.

New industry standard in development
Following asks from industry, we are developing a common industry
standard quality mark to help tourism businesses, attractions and
destinations provide reassurance to visitors and customers that they are
taking the necessary steps to adhere to the official Government
guidelines.
Discussions are ongoing with industry and the national tourist boards
for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Plans include businesses
completing a free online assessment, following clear steps to ensure
adherence to the correct guidelines and being provided with a quality
mark they could use and a certificate that recognises they have gone
through the process. We will keep you updated on its progress.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) invites you
to take part in a survey being conducted to understand the impact of the
COVID-19 outbreak on organisations in the digital, culture, media,
sport, gambling, telecoms and tourism sectors, and their engagement with
the available government interventions.
Your answers will remain anonymous and will be used to inform DCMS’s
preparedness efforts. The survey should take around 10-20 minutes and
the deadline for responses is 15 May 2020.

Sign up for webinars to help your business access financial support
The Government has set up a number of webinars to help businesses
affected by the COVID-19 outbreak learn more about the financial support
available to them. See our dedicated webpage [26] for links to webinars
that are taking place on multiple dates and times.
Information is also available on the new Bounce Back Loans for small
businesses which opened for applications on Monday, along with a new
discretionary fund for micro and small businesses that may not be
eligible for other grant schemes.
