Dear Member,
Thank you for your efforts to protect the industry, support our staff
and suppliers and reassure every single one of your guests whatever the
conversation in these unprecedented times.
I have been struck by the efforts every single one of you who has
contacted me, or who I have been able to meet with, are making to ensure
that as an industry we protect what we can of now and seek to lay the
foundations for a very quick return to strength immediately after this
crisis. You should be rightly proud of all that you are doing in ever
changing circumstances.
I can assure you that myself and the Directors are working to try to
secure solutions and clarifications on matters continuously throughout
each and every day, but sending a newsletter daily is pointless.
We have therefore been updating the website daily with blog entries for
you to get the information that you need after we have checked that it
is robust and come from reliable sources. Please check there daily and
regularly for updates. we don't seek to replicate formal communication
from the government etc but do put relevant supporting information there
for you.
If you are not aware of the password, it is 'Llandudno' for the current
time, as we have decided to open this resource up to non-members as well
as members during this situation. If you know a business which is not a
member, then please feel free to provide them with the password to
access the blog entries during this period.
As we face uncertain times as a country I have today approached Welsh
government as well as Conwy Council and Betsi Cadwallader Health Board
offering the support of the Association in whatever way we can help in
the coming weeks and possibly Months. I have not placed any restrictions
or conditions on what this help could be as currently we do not know
what may be asked of us, however with all the messages currently being
around us seeking support and help and assurances from Government I felt
that we needed to also show that we recognise the enormity of the
situation, are right at the coalface of the consequences, but are
willing to support working through this quickly. I hope that each and
every one of you is in agreement with this course of action and will
contact me to offer your support should we be approached to help in any
way.
I have also spoken to HMRC following a number of calls from members who
were finding that there was no offer of delay in payments as stated in
the Budget last week. The position is as follows; If you have payments
which are due now, you will be asked what payment you are able to make
now and if possible what payment plan you can provide to pay the balance
over the coming months. if that is not possible you will be asked when
you think you will be able to make some payments and to make contact
then. No penalty for none payment. If you are not due to make a payment
yet, but will be due to make a payment in the coming months, wait until
you know exactly what you are due to pay and then make contact with
HMRC. Again if you are able to pay some or all of it at that time they
will be glad to take payment, however if you are unable to, the same
arrangements will be introduced to help us all through this difficult
period.
Members will be aware that we normally seek to renew memberships at this
time of year, however the Directors have taken the unprecedented step of
delaying membership renewals until 1st October 2020 to support all
members during this difficult period.
Finally, please recognise that every one of the Directors is also a
business owner who is facing the same issues that you are however they
are working tirelessly on your behalf. We have regular communication
channels with our M.P, A.M's, Local Authority and National Agencies, so
save yourself and them time by feeding queries and concerns as well as
support ideas through us in the Association so we can make sure that
they get to the right people in a timely manner to benefit you and your
business.
